NASCAR postpones Texas playoff race for rain again
By Asher Fair
NASCAR postponed Sunday’s Cup Series round of 8 playoff race to Monday due to rain. It didn’t happen Monday and has been postponed again.
Maybe we’ll get more mid-week NASCAR Cup Series racing after all.
Texas Motor Speedway was scheduled to host the second of three races in the round of 8 of the 2020 Cup Series playoffs, the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500, on Sunday, October 25.
That sort of happened.

The first 52 laps of this 334-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Fort Worth, Texas were successfully run on Sunday afternoon, save for two crashes which brought out the caution flag.
But rain resulted in a red flag, which ultimately led to a postponement to Monday at 10:00 a.m. ET. However, this new time slot was never looking good, and sure enough, there was no chance that the race would resume at 10:00 a.m. ET — or at any point within a few hours of 10:00 a.m. ET.
Despite the amazing efforts of the track drying crew, racing at any point today simply was not doable.
As a result, NASCAR has gone ahead and postponed the race once again. The remaining 282 laps are scheduled to begin tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. ET, and NBC Sports Network is set to have live coverage once again.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer, the race’s fifth leader, was leading after 52 laps and four lead changes. A full restarting order can be seen here, and a current playoff picture, factoring in provisional stage points and race points, can be seen here.
Four championship contenders are currently within just two points of the Championship 4 cut line as they currently run.
The Cup Series is scheduled to race at Martinsville Speedway to conclude the round of 8 on Sunday, November 1, but further postponements to the race at Texas Motor Speedway are still possible should the race not be able to be run on Tuesday as it is now scheduled to.
