Felix Rosenqvist is set to leave Chip Ganassi Racing after the 2020 IndyCar season, his second season in the series and with the team.

The 2020 IndyCar season was Felix Rosenqvist’s second year competing for Chip Ganassi Racing behind the wheel of the #10 Honda, and it will be his last.

Rosenqvist, who replaced Ed Jones after the 2018 season, made his 31st and final start for the team in the season finale on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida on Sunday, October 25.

Chip Ganassi Racing had reportedly been optimistic about extending the 28-year-old Swede’s contract, but that will not happen.

The 2019 Rookie of the Year finished in sixth place in the championship standings last year with two runner-up finishes at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Portland International Raceway, and he finished in 11th this season.

He secured his first career victory at Road America back in July after making the winning pass with under two laps to go. He was slated to contend for a victory — and the points lead — with teammate Scott Dixon in the season opener at Texas Motor Speedway after a late charge to the front, but a crash with 10 laps remaining led to a 20th place finish.

Aside from his victory at Road America, he only recorded one top five finish this season, with that being a fifth place finish in the first of two races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course earlier this month.

He recorded three other top 10 finishes this year, including an oval career-high of seventh place at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. He entered the year with a career-best finish of 12th on oval tracks.

As for the rest of Chip Ganassi Racing’s lineup for the 2021 IndyCar season, Dixon is under contract to return behind the wheel of the #9 Honda while Marcus Ericsson is under contract to return behind the wheel of the #8 Honda. Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is slated to drive a new #48 Honda in the road and street course races, with an oval driver yet to be determined.
