Formula 1: Mick Schumacher tipped to drive for Haas in 2021
By Asher Fair
Formula 2 championship leader and Ferrari Driver Academy member Mick Schumacher has been tipped to drive for Haas in the 2021 Formula 1 season.
Formula 2 points leader Mick Schumacher has long been rumored as a potential Haas driver for the 2021 Formula 1 season.
The team announced that neither Kevin Magnussen nor Romain Grosjean will be returning next year, opening up two seats, and it was confirmed that both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi would be back at Alfa Romeo next year for a third consecutive season together.
The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher had been linked to Alfa Romeo as a result of the fact that he is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Ferrari have the right to select one of Alfa Romeo’s two drivers each year, and he is clearly in the best position for a promotion.

Schumacher is in his second season of Formula 2 competition, both with Prema Racing, after winning the 2018 Formula 3 European Championship driving for the team. He won that title in his second season of competition after finishing in 12th place in the driver standings the year before.
Currently leading the Formula 2 standings with just four races remaining on the 24-race schedule, he looks poised to repeat what he did in the Formula 3 European Championship, as he also finished in 12th place in the standings last year.
Through 20 races this season, Schumacher has been victorious twice and secured an additional eight podium finishes. His closest challenger in the standings is fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott, whom he leads by 22 points (191 to 169).
Schumacher already has the superlicense required to compete in Formula 1, although Mazepin still needs to secure his.

The season is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, December 6.
The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled to open up the 2021 Formula 1 season at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit on Sunday, March 21 after it was canceled from the 2020 schedule as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
