NASCAR fans can watch the full Bristol dirt removal
By Asher Fair
Fans can watch the dirt removal process at Bristol Motor Speedway following the historic NASCAR race weekend at the short oval.
For the first time since the 1970 season, the NASCAR Cup Series ran a dirt race, doing so at Bristol Motor Speedway after the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilometer) high-banked short oval in Bristol, Tennessee was covered in dirt.
This race was contested on Monday, March 29. But the track still has to host another NASCAR race on the pavement later this season.
The UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics is set to kick off the next NASCAR race weekend at the paved Bristol Motor Speedway oval on Thursday, September 16. This Truck Series race, the third and final race of the round of 10 of the playoffs, is set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The following evening, the Xfinity Series is scheduled to race at the track. The Food City 300, the 26th and final race on the regular season schedule, is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, September 17.
Finally, the Cup Series is set to conclude the race weekend with the third and final race of the round of 16 of the playoffs, the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. This race is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 18.
As a result, all of the dirt has to be removed well before then, and now that lengthy process has gotten underway.
Thanks to Bristol Motor Speedway’s live EarthCam, sponsored by Meade Tractor, fans can watch the entire process — or as much of it as you want — unfold.
For the record, I plan to wait for the post-dirt sped-up version.
But dirt fans need not fear; despite September’s race weekend on the paved oval, it was announced during March’s Cup Series race that the dirt is set to return for the 2022 season as well.
