NASCAR: Kansas race may have the craziest name ever
By Asher Fair
The name of this Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway may very well be the craziest one the sport has ever seen.
Due to title sponsorship agreements, NASCAR has seen some pretty crazy race names over the years across its three national series (Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Truck Series).
We’re talking about names such as the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225, the Subway Jalapeno 250 powered by Coca-Cola, the Crown Royal Presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at The Brickyard, the Crown Royal Presents the [Your Hero’s Name Here] 400 at the Brickyard powered by BigMachineRecords.com, the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen and the Spongebob Squarepants 400.
This year alone has seen two pretty bizarre ones in the Xfinity Series. The season opened up with the Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner. 300 at Daytona International Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway hosted the Call 811 Before You Dig 200 just a few weeks later.
This Sunday’s Cup Series race name, however, takes the cake, and it will probably be a while, if ever, before that changes.

Busch, one of the four Premier Partners of the Cup Series, gave fans the opportunity to name this Sunday’s 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas Speedway oval in Kansas City, Kansas by donating at least $1.00 to Farm Rescue, a one-of-a-kind non-profit that supports family farmers across the country.
Busch also pledged to match each $1.00 donation with $1.00 of their own, for up to $50,000.
So it was inevitable that the winning name would be something unusual, for lack of a better word, and although there were some creative names that were selected as finalists, it was probably the craziest one that won.
Fan submissions were narrowed down to four finalists back in March, and it was the Buschy McBusch Race 400 that won the final vote.
Buschy McBusch Race 400 beat out the Busch Latte 400, the Nectar of the Cobs 400 and the For The Farmers 400, and as a result, it is slated to appear everywhere, including on the official race logo, the race tickets, NASCAR.com, official race merchandise and on the Kansas Speedway grass.
The race name will also be said by Fox commentators Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon, and Mike Joy will during the live broadcast of the event.
Tune in to Fox Sports 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, May 2 for the live broadcast of the Buschy McBusch Race 400 from Kansas Speedway.
