The starting lineup for the second of two IndyCar races at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, the XPEL 375, is set following Saturday night’s race.

The two races of this weekend’s IndyCar doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway were supposed to see their starting lineups set by the same qualifying session, as the series had initially opted to utilize a unique qualifying format which they introduced last season ahead of the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway.

In typical non-Indy 500 oval fashion, each driver had been slated to compete a two-lap qualifying attempt.

The starting lineup for the first race, yesterday evening’s Genesys 300, was slated to be determined using only each driver’s first lap, and the starting lineup for the second race, this evening’s XPEL 375, was slated to be determined using only each driver’s second lap.

But the qualifying session was rained out, meaning that championship entrant points would set both starting lineups.

More from IndyCar

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou entered the weekend as the points leader and started yesterday’s Genesys 300 from the pole position behind the wheel of his #10 Honda. But the starting lineup for tonight’s XPEL 375 depended on the results of the Genesys 300, since the standings would inevitably change in it.

It was Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon who took the lead of the championship standings by dominating yesterday’s 212-lap race around the four-turn, 1.44-mile (2.317-kilometer) oval in Fort Worth, Texas, and he is set to start today’s 248-lap race from the pole position behind the wheel of his #9 Honda because of it.

Palou, after finishing in fourth place yesterday and dropped to second place in the standings, is set to start in second place alongside his teammate on the front row.

Make note of the fact that not every driver will line up where they rank in the standings, as entrant points are based on cars, not drivers.

Only 20 of the 24 drivers set to compete in this race have been in the same car for all three races that have been contested so far this season. One of the other four drivers is a full-time driver who has driven two cars, and the other three drivers are part-time drivers.

Without further ado, here is the full starting lineup for the 2021 XPEL 375 at Texas Motor Speedway.
