Sebastian Vettel’s start to the 2021 Formula 1 season and his Aston Martin tenure has not gone all that well, and he finds himself looking one poor stat in the face.

Four races into the 2021 Formula 1 season, Sebastian Vettel unfortunately seems to have picked up where he left off after a disappointing final few seasons with Ferrari.

The four-time world champion signed with Aston Martin for 2021 to compete alongside Lance Stroll as the replacement for Sergio Perez, and it has been a struggle.

The team themselves have struggled a bit since rebranding from Racing Point as a result of regulation changes that took effect ahead of the season, but Stroll has still managed two point-scoring efforts and no finishes worse than 14th place.

Vettel, meanwhile, has yet to finish higher than 13th place.

Just seven of the sport’s 10 teams have managed to score any points through the season’s first four races. This makes sense, considering the fact that Alfa Romeo, Williams and Haas effectively stopped caring about their 2021 performance even before the 23-race season began in order to focus on 2022 and the new rules and regulations slated to take effect next year.

But Vettel is the only driver among those seven teams who has not yet scored this season. In fact, all 13 of the others had scored points by the end of the season’s second race, and we are now four races into the year. Only one of them, AlphaTauri rookie Yuki Tsunoda, hasn’t scored in multiple events.

While those 13 drivers have all recorded at least one top nine finish, Vettel’s best results are his 13th place finishes in Portimao and Barcelona. He finished in 15th in Bahrain and 15th in Imola, the latter coming after retiring the car late in the event.

So he is still tied with the Alfa Romeo pair of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the Williams pair of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi and the Haas pair of rookies Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin in the driver standings with zero points, and that has been the case for three races in a row now.
