Formula 1: Lando Norris speaks out after being mugged
By Asher Fair
McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has spoken out after being mugged following Sunday’s Euro 2020 final match at Wembley Stadium.
Sunday’s Euro 2020 final match between Italy and England was arguably more chaotic off the field as it was on the field, and not for good reason. Thousand of ticketless individuals broke into Wembley Stadium, leading to many skirmishes.
McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris was among those in attendance for the big game, and he unfortunately found himself involved in the chaos after it ended.
As he got into his McLaren GT supercar to leave, he was grabbed and mugged of his prototype Richard Mille watch.
McLaren released the following statement about the matter on Monday.
"“McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken. Thankfully, Lando was unharmed but he is understandably shaken. The team is supporting Lando and we are sure that racing fans will join us in wishing him all the best for the British Grand Prix this weekend. As this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.”"
Now Norris has spoken out about his condition after the scary incident. He posted the following message on his Instagram story on Tuesday.
"“Hi world. Thanks for all the messages everyone. Really means a lot to see so many messages of kindness and love from you all. Thought I’d let you know that I’m doing well and trying to make sure I’m ready and in the right zone for this weekend to perform at my best. Love you all and can’t wait to see so many of you back at the track this weekend.”"

Norris is in the midst of a breakout season in his third year competing for McLaren in Formula 1. Through nine races on the 23-race calendar, he has already scored more points than he did throughout the entire 17-race 2020 season, and he sits in fourth place in the driver standings.
The 21-year-old Briton is the only driver who has scored points in every race so far this season, and he has yet to finish a race in lower than eighth place. He has scored points in 14 consecutive races going back to last season, a streak that is seven races higher than the next highest active streak, which belongs to Red Bull’s Sergio Perez (seven).
Tune in to ESPN at 10:00 a.m. ET this Sunday, July 18 for the live broadcast of the British Grand Prix from Silverstone Circuit. Norris finished in fifth and ninth place in the two races at his home track last year.
