Roush Fenway Racing are set to make a “major announcement” this coming Tuesday at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR Cup Series team announced on Friday that they will be “hosting a major announcement next week regarding the team’s plans for the future”. This announcement is slated to take place at 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, July 20, and is set to occur at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

This “major announcement” is set to feature team owner Jack Roush and team president Steve Newmark as well as Ed Weiss, the Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy, and General Counsel for the Fenway Sports Group, and “others”.

It is assumed that one of the “others” will be Brad Keselowski.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

For the last few months, there has been a rumor that Keselowski will leave Team Penske after the 2021 season and join Roush Fenway Racing as not only a driver but a co-owner, thus turning the team into Roush-Fenway-Keselowski Racing.

After this rumor started to swirl, many reliable sources reported that this move was a likely one, and those same sources later reported that it was a “done deal”. The only thing missing was an official confirmation from the driver and the team.

It is believed that this “major announcement” will finally contain that official confirmation.

One of the key reasons why Roush Fenway Racing haven’t yet confirmed what has become the worst kept secret of this year’s silly season was out of respect for Team Penske and their driver lineup decision for the 2022 season.

Now this aspect of the equation is out of the way, as the Roger Penske-owned team confirmed on Thursday that Austin Cindric is set to replace Keselowski behind the wheel of the #2 Ford in 2022.

Additionally, the Team Penske-affiliated Wood Brothers Racing team announced that Harrison Burton is set to replace Matt DiBenedetto behind the wheel of the #21 Ford, the car that Cindric had been slated to drive next year when it was still believed that Keselowski would be back with Team Penske for a 13th season.
