NASCAR: Another driver is looking forward to the ‘major announcement’

There is one driver who is now really looking forward to Roush Fenway Racing’s announcement about their future in the NASCAR Cup Series on Tuesday.
Roush Fenway Racing announced last week that they will be making a “major announcement” pertaining to their NASCAR Cup Series future this Tuesday, July 20 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
While not confirmed, recent discussions imply that this is finally the announcement that 2012 series champion Brad Keselowski is set to join the team as not only a driver but as a co-owner for the 2022 season and beyond.

This rumor began to swirl back in May, and it has since been confirmed that Keselowski has opted to leave Team Penske following the 2021 season, with Roger Penske’s team confirming Austin Cindric as his replacement behind the wheel of the #2 Ford.
Now there is one driver — other than Keselowski — who is really looking forward to this announcement.

It has been assumed that Keselowski is set to replace Ryan Newman behind the wheel of the #6 Ford as opposed to Chris Buescher behind the wheel of the #17 Ford. The team have made it very clear that they want Buescher to be a part of the organization for the next several seasons.
Newman was involved in an on-track altercation with StarCom Racing’s Quin Houff in Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Houff, who runs at the back of the pack every race in his #00 Chevrolet and has a season-high finish of 24th place, waved Newman by to his inside as a courtesy on lap 129 of 293 around the four-turn, 1.058-mile (1.703-kilometer) oval in Loudon, New Hampshire. But Newman ended up spinning him out, bringing out a caution flag.
Roush Fenway Racing responded after Houff radioed to his team that he wanted to get back at Newman for causing the collision.

Houff did end up showing his displeasure with the driver of the #6 Ford, giving him a nudge a few minutes later.
After the race, Houff responded to Roush Fenway Racing’s tweet.
He made sure to note his newfound excitement over the fact that Newman is believed to be on his way out after 2021.

Houff has been criticized throughout his career for “being in the way” on multiple occasions and bringing out caution flags via single-car spins, so his tweets about the matter met with mixed reaction — even though he was clearly trying not to be a road block here.
