When is the next NASCAR race?

NASCAR is nearing the end of a three-week hiatus as a result of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. When is the next race scheduled to take place?
Two consecutive off weekends is a rarity during the NASCAR season, having not happened since 1991 (as initially scheduled), but that is exactly what the 2021 season just saw as a result of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
It has been exactly 18 days since the most recent NASCAR action took place among the sport’s three national series, with that race being a Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 18.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway also hosted an Xfinity Series race the night before. The Truck Series hasn’t been in action since more than a week before that at Knoxville Speedway on Friday, July 9.
These past two off weekends were the first off weekends for the Cup Series since Easter and the last two off weekends until the season concludes.

In fact, all three national series are scheduled to get back in action this weekend at Watkins Glen International, with the Truck Series and Xfinity Series scheduled to run on Saturday, August 7 and the Cup Series scheduled to run on Sunday, August 8.
The Truck Series race, the United Rentals 176, is set to get things rolling again. This race is set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET. Set to follow this race is the Xfinity Series race, the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey 200, which is set to be broadcast live on CNBC beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET. Make note that this is CNBC, not NBC Sports Network, since the Summer Olympics will still be going on at this time.

The Cup Series is then set to return the following afternoon with the Go Bowling at The Glen. After three weeks of taking care of other sports, NBC Sports Network is set to return to its NASCAR broadcasting duties and broadcast this race live beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.
