Stewart-Haas Racing are set to make a “major announcement” pertaining to the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season later this morning.

Earlier this week, the Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR Cup Series team confirmed that they will be making a “major announcement” at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, December 10.

That “major announcement” is scheduled to take place at the Racing Capital of the World at 10:40 a.m. ET.

Set to be in attendance for this “major announcement” are Stewart-Haas Racing team co-owner Tony Stewart as well as Chase Briscoe, one of the team’s four drivers.

Stewart and Briscoe, who pilots the #14 Ford, are both Indiana natives who have ties to the Brickyard.

This “major announcement” is said to feature “car unveilings”, presumably for the 2022 Cup Series season, on the yard of bricks after the press conference takes place on the fourth floor of the media center.

Some have also speculated that it may feature the confirmation of a new partner or partners for Briscoe’s #14 Ford for next year. Others have even speculated that it could have something to do with a new manufacturer, though that seems a bit far-fetched (especially considering the fact that their media alert literally says “Ford Mustang”).

While Stewart-Haas Racing haven’t formally confirmed the returns of Aric Almirola or Cole Custer to the #10 Ford and the #41 Ford, respectively, for the 2022 season, both drivers are expected to return to the team, so it is highly unlikely that any sort of driver confirmation would be classified as a “major announcement” at this stage.

Plus, do keep in mind the fact that Briscoe, the only one of the team’s four drivers set to be in attendance this morning, is already set to return to the team following a 2021 season which saw him earn Rookie of the Year honors.
