The Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR Cup Series team are set to make a “major announcement” later this week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

On Friday, December 10, the Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR Cup Series team are reportedly set to make a “major announcement” at the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Set to be present for this “major announcement” are team co-owner Tony Stewart and Chase Briscoe, the driver of the team’s #14 Ford.

Briscoe is coming off of a 2021 season that saw him win Rookie of the Year honors. Both he and Stewart are Indiana natives and have special ties to the Brickyard.

Specifics of the “major announcement” haven’t been revealed, though the unveiling of cars for the 2022 season is said to be a part of it.

It is also expected, but not confirmed, that this announcement will have to do with the welcoming of a new partner or partners for Briscoe’s team.

While the team haven’t formally confirmed their four-driver lineup for 2022, Stewart has been adamant that the four drivers for whom the team fielded cars in 2021 are the four drivers he wants driving for his team again in 2022.

This would end a trend that has seen Stewart-Haas Racing retain only three of their four drivers after each of the last five seasons. They haven’t kept their entire four-driver roster from one year to the next since the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

So there is really no need for a driver confirmation this Friday, especially since Briscoe is one of their drivers who is already known to be returning.

The year 2021 has seen a lot of confirmations dubbed “major announcements” as it pertains to silly season and other aspects relating to the 2022 lineup. Specifically, Roush Fenway Racing’s confirmation of Brad Keselowski as a driver and a third co-owner, plus the later confirmation of the team’s name change to RFK Racing, were both billed as such.
