The qualifying order for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway is set.

The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is scheduled to get underway with the 64th annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway this Sunday, February 20 (Fox, 2:30 p.m. ET), but first, the 40-car field needs to be solidified.

That process is set to begin with tomorrow night’s single-car qualifying session (Fox Sports 1, 8:00 p.m. ET), and it is set to conclude with Thursday night’s Bluegreen Vacations Duels (Fox Sports 1, 7:00 p.m. ET), two 60-lap races around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked oval in Daytona Beach, Florida.

There are 42 cars on the entry list for the 200-lap “Great American Race”, meaning that two of the six non-chartered entries will fail to qualify.

Like it was last year, the qualifying order for the single-car qualifying session was determined by two random draws. The top 20 cars in the owner standings from last year drew for the final 20 spots, while the other 22 cars drew for the first 22 spots.

This race is the only race of the year for which this format will be used to determine the qualifying order. The new format is explained in more detail here.

Kaulig Racing’s Daniel Hemric is set to lead things off behind the wheel of the #16 Chevrolet. Among full-time drivers, Petty GMS Motorsports’ Erik Jones is set to lead things off. He is set to go out third behind the wheel of his #43 Chevrolet.

Among drivers not locked into the field, NY Racing Team’s Greg Biffle is set to lead things off. He is set to go out 14th behind the wheel of his #44 Chevrolet.

Here is the full qualifying order for Wednesday night’s single-car Daytona 500 qualifying session at Daytona International Speedway.

The fastest 10 drivers in this single-car qualifying session advance to the second round, and the fastest two drivers in the second round secure front row starting positions for the Daytona 500. The rest of the qualifying results determine the starting lineups for the two Bluegreen Vacations Duels, which ultimately determine the full Daytona 500 starting lineup.
