Race number 22 on the 26-race 2026 NASCAR Cup Series regular season schedule is the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is back for its third season after having been shelved for a road course race at the track from 2021 to 2023.

This 160-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Speedway, Indiana oval is also serving as the championship round of NASCAR's second annual In-Season Challenge tournament.

But while the battle between Team Penske's Ryan Blaney and Front Row Motorsports' Todd Gilliland will certainly generate some interest, most eyes will be on the playoff picture and the battle for position inside the top 16 in the standings as the regular season winds down.

Spire Motorsports' Carson Hocevar took the pole position for Sunday's race in Saturday's qualifying session, as unlike plenty of other oval qualifying sessions in 2026, this weekend's session was not rained out. Teammate Daniel Suarez joined him on the front row to get the crown jewel event underway.
