As great as the NASCAR action has been this season, it simply hasn’t helped the ratings. Over the last five years or so NASCAR has seen its ratings consistently fall each season. 2014 looked to be the year that NASCAR decided to dig in and change chat. With changes to the chase format and with the addition of a new qualifying system, NASCAR is looking to bring back some of its lost fans. In an interesting twist, NASCAR saw both positive and negative numbers from the Darlington race. The Darlington TV rating was down from 2013 but the number of viewers was the highest since 2009. If NASCAR can continue to provide a quality product the ratings will eventually reflect that.
