NASCAR: Who’s Hot And Who’s Not Heading Into Michigan
NOT – Matt Kenseth
Matt Kenseth came into this race as the point leader and with a mountain of momentum having just come off consecutive top-five finishes. Although he didn’t qualify well Kenseth and the No. 20 team always seem to make great in-race adjustments. Unfortunately, Kenseth got into the back of Jamie McMurray on pit road early in the race and as a result struggled for the rest of the day. Kenseth would wind up finishing the race outside of the top-20 and as a result lost the point’s lead to Jeff Gordon. As long as Kenseth doesn’t have a win, the points lead will remain important for the final spot in the chase (if there are 16 winners or more) is reserved for the points leader should they not have a win. While I think Kenseth will win before the chase, the points lead is always a good thing to keep, just in case.
