Take 5 – Happy Harvick ….

Kevin Harvick had the fastest car all night and he should have finished 2nd. However the late caution and series of restarts led to Harvick hitting the wall and finishing outside of the top-15. Before all of that happened Harvick was dominating the race and one would have thought that he would have been in good spirits, except that he wasn’t.

Harvick was plagued at Atlanta by having to start the majority of the restarts in the outside lane. This kept happening because Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth were consistently quicker than Harvick’s crew on pit road. It got to the point where during the race Harvick questioned what types of guns his guys were using compared to the JGR guys.

While we have seen far worse interactions between Harvick and his crew this season, the overwhelming trend has been that Harvick hasn’t been happy with his pit crew. Hopefully for the sake of Harvick and the No. 4 team none of these issues will pop up in the chase for if they do then I’m afraid we might see whole new “happy” side of Harvick.
