NASCAR: Who’s Hot And Who’s Not Heading Into Richmond

NOT – Jeff Gordon
This might come as a surprise to some but hear me out before you crucify me. Jeff Gordon is in the middle of one of his greatest season in years and is a true contender to win a championship in 2014. That being said, he is also in a mini slump if you will. Gordon finishes 17th in Atlanta and the week before he ran 16th at Bristol. This marks only the third time this season that Gordon has had consecutive finishes outside of the top-10. Earlier this season Gordon ran 13th and 12th and then bounced back to run 2nd in the following race. Last month he ran 12th and 26th before winning the Brickyard 400 the following week. So if the trend continues Gordon is set to have a nice night Saturday in Richmond as he has not had three consecutive finishes outside of the top-10 in 2014. For Gordon and the No. 24 teams let’s hope hr does have a nice night in Richmond because the last thing the team needs is to have three sub-par performances leading up to the start of the chase and Gordon’s ‘drive for five.’
