NASCAR: Who’s Hot And Who’s Not Heading Into Kansas Speedway

HOT – Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon won his fourth race of the 2014 season this past weekend at Dover. If not for cutting a tire with eight laps to go in the second race of the chase, Gordon would have four top-five finishes in the last four races (three of which would have been chase races). Another impressive wrinkle for Gordon and the No. 24 team is that each of their four wins in 2014 have come the race after they finish poorly. Gordon has only four finishes in 2014 outside of the top-20 and each time the No. 24 car has been in victory lane the following week. Gordon looks more than primed to win his fifth championship of the year. As Gordon and the No. 24 team begin the second round of the chase they are hoping to win back-to-back races which would of course guarantee their spot in the top-8 and the next round. Gordon has three wins in 17 starts at Kansas Speedway to go along with ten top-10 finishes. The only concern for fans of the No. 24 team when it comes to the second round of the chase should be the unpredictability that is Talladega.
