Tyler Reddick led a race-high 46 laps of the 100-lap NextEra Energy Resources 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Friday and went on to claim his first-career series win.
"“This is a great start to the year, and I can’t think of a better place to be,” Reddick said in victory lane."
Erik Jones finished second, Scott Lagasse Jr. was third, and Austin Theriault was fourth in his first-career start in the Truck Series. Ray Black Jr. rounded out the top-five.
"“Second’s a great start to this season,” Jones said."
The Brad Keselowski Racing teammates of Reddick and Theriault ran first and second for most of the second half of the race until Theriault pulled out to attempt to take the win from his teammate on the final lap. The other front-runners behind Reddick also fanned out and Jones and Lagasse got by Theriault to take second and third in the final feet of the race.
"“The Ford power was awesome, so we’re really excited about the top-five finish,” Theriault said."
Ty Dillon dominated the first half of the race, leading 37 laps with Reddick running second most of that time. Dillon, though, gave up the lead when he headed for pit road while the pits were closed during a caution for a 13-truck wreck near the halfway point of the race.
