HOT – Small Teams
Heading into Atlanta there are some faces in the top-20 in the point’s that NASCAR fans aren’t used to seeing there. The Daytona 500 was a big day for some of the smaller teams in the sport and some of the less known drivers. Here is a quick look at some of the nice finishes that smaller teams and lesser known drivers were able to pull of this past weekend.
- 6th – Casey Mears
- 11th – David Gilliland
- 12th – Sam Hornish Jr.
- 13th – Michael Annett
- 16th – Regan Smith
- 17th – David Ragan
- 18th – Matt Crafton
- 19th – Johnny Sauter
- 22nd – Cole Whitt
Obviously Crafton and Smith were driving for bigger teams but their finishes were still impressive. It’s nice to see different faces have good days. One of the coolest things about Daytona and Talladega is that the draft is the equalizer when it comes to better equipment. This has been proven in the past and it was proven once again this past weekend. Hopefully some of these drivers can keep the momentum rolling this weekend in Atlanta.
