Statistically speaking: a look at Auto Club Speedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wraps up its three-race West Coast swing Sunday with the running of the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. It’s the fifth race of the season, overall.

Kevin Harvick, a Bakersfield, Calif., native heads to the home-state race as the winner of the two most recent races on the circuit, last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway and the weekend before at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The reigning Sprint Cup champion also has a string of seven-straight top-two finishes, dating back to the final three races of 2014.

Meanwhile, Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Kurt Busch posted a top-five, finishing fourth in his first race of the season last weekend at Phoenix. Busch has been impressive, so far, throughout the Fontana weekend. He’s been the fastest throughout practice and claimed the pole starting spot on Friday.

When it comes, specifically, to racing at ACS, Harvick and Busch each have a win. Six-time champion Jimmie Johnson, though, has five wins in Fontana, most of any driver.
