NASCAR: Previewing The 2015 Free Agent Class

No. 78 Martin Truex Jr.
Coming into the 2015 season many might have said that Truex Jr. would be racing for his ride and those people might have been right. Truex Jr. missed the chase in 2014 and wound up finishing 24th in the final standings. Through six races in 2015 he has yet to finish a race outside of the top-10. If you count the Budweiser Duels and the Sprint Unlimited; Truex Jr. has finished 8th or better every time he has taken to the track this season.
Truex Jr. will obviously not finish every race this season in the top-10. However, if he can keep running well and get into the chase you might see him in the mix for a championship. Truex Jr. won’t be a favorite to win the title this season but all bets are off once in the chase, especially if he makes it to the final race of the season.
Prediction: You might think that success would guarantee Truex Jr. staying with the No. 78 team but that might not be the case. I believe that his success will open up bigger opportunities and he will find himself in a different ride in 2016, maybe teaming with Kyle Larson.
