No.1 Legendary battle between Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip ends up in a wreck (1986).

One of the most famous NASCAR moments took place at this track as well. Two of the best drivers of all time were rattling each other’s cage in the closing stages of the second race of 1986 and they were not giving each other any extra room. The two champions were fighting hard, sideways and bumping each other. With only two laps to go Darrell Waltrip dived to the inside of Dale Earnhardt who suddenly cut down sending both cars in the guard-rail along with many others who were collected in the crash. Kyle Petty avoided this kind of “Big One” and got his first career win.
