6. 2005 NEXTEL Cup season

Stewart won his second Cup championship in 2005, decidedly under much easier circumstances than his 2002 title run. Stewart dominated the season following a June test where the team learned a few setup tricks. As a result, he won five races (Sonoma, Daytona, Loudon, Indy, Watkins Glen) in a seven-race stretch during the summer.

Afterwards he stayed out of trouble for the rest of the year, and would go on to earn seven top-10s in the 10-race Chase on his way to the title. His second championship season was regarded as dominant, but that would change soon.
