4. Stewart-Haas Racing

It was easy to think that Stewart would just stay with Joe Gibbs Racing forever. He won races and championships with JGR and made the No. 20 Home Depot car an iconic entry on the race day grid. Yet when JGR switched to Toyotas in 2008, Stewart was vocal about his loyalty to Chevy.

At a press conference midway through the season, Stewart announced he would be joining Gene Haas in forming Stewart-Haas Racing, becoming a full-time owner/driver in the process. Stewart would win four times (Pocono, Daytona, Watkins Glen, Kansas) in his first season with SHR, plus the All-Star race in Charlotte. He ultimately finished sixth in the 2009 standings.
