The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has shifted to Talladega for the second elimination race of the Chase and the stakes are high for drivers like Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who both need a win to get to the Eliminator 8 round.

In both races of the second round, Charlotte and Kansas, Earnhardt Jr. has struggled mightily and never has been able to get any momentum going. He has had constant issues with his car and that has put him in a 31-point hole. Matt Kenseth got into an accident at Charlotte, causing him to finish in 42nd. At Kansas, he led 153 laps and had the lead late in the race before he was spun out by Joey Logano, dropping him to 14th. He sits in 12th place in the standings and 35 points from the cut-off line.

As for Logano, he has won both of the races in the second round and is the only driver locked into the Eliminator 8 round. That’s where uncertainty enters for the rest of the pack trying to move on. Talladega is the last place you want to be at if you need a good run or a win, but that’s just how hard the Chase is.

Even though you can never really predict a winner for Talladega because “The Big One” always looms, you can decide who the favorites are.
