Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Anytime you have the last name “Earnhardt,” you can expect to be favored coming into a race at Talladega. Dale Earnhardt Jr., just like Jeff Gordon, has 6 all-time wins at the track and he is always a threat.

His first two races of the second round of the Chase have been terrible, to say the least. His car and his team have struggled and it has forced him into a must-win situation at Talladega. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, however. He has lots of experience winning and closing out races with the draft playing a part in his success and he has won two out of the three races at restrictor plate tracks this season.

Though he has had issues recently, you can never count Earnhardt Jr. out at Talladega, and with the stakes as high as they are, he should be considered the favorite heading into another elimination race.
