Heading into Martinsville on Sunday Jeff Gordon fans should have been feeling pretty damn good.

Gordon was coming off of his best performance of the Chase which happened to be a third-place finish last weekend. Gordon was coming into a track that he has dominated in his career and his car had looked fast all weekend.

Of course there were some concerns in the minds of Gordon fans. After all, the third round of the Chase was where Gordon was knocked out in 2014. Despite the No. 24 teams strong performance thus far in the Chase, Gordon had yet to find a way to win heading into Sunday at Martinsville. Then of there is Martinsville in general, sometimes short-track racing can cause drivers to be involved in issues they did not cause.

With all of that somewhere in the minds of Gordon fans, most probably sat anxiously awaiting the drop of the green flag. Once the flag waved it was the start of what would be an emotional rollercoaster ride for the next four hours.

Here is a recap of how that ride went and the emotion that most Gordon fans probably experienced.
