The Last Caution

The feelings leading to the last caution were all over the map for Gordon fans.

While Gordon was running in second place the caution was not wanted and actually feared. Gordon restarting on the outside? That could have easily dropped him towards the back of the top-five and ruined a chance to win. Then of course he took the lead and the fear of a caution was even greater.

Gordon restarting any race is scary for Gordon fans because he simply isn’t that good at it. Gordon restarting at Martinsville with a win and a spot in Miami on the line? That’s the last thing No. 24 fans wanted to see but of course they got it with less than 10 laps to go.

The last caution coming out had to cause stress the likes of which had yet to be witnessed during this event. The first thought had to be it’s over because Gordon is going to be on the wrong end of the pit strategy, but then nobody pitted and you had to sit down.

Gordon Emotion Meter: “I need to sit down” – The race was his and now it might not be but now it might still be because nobody pitted and he just needs one restart to win this damn thing and make it to the finale in Miami.
