This Week In NASCAR

When it started in the mid 1990s, This Week In NASCAR was one of the very few shows on television dedicated to what is now the most popular auto racing sanctioning body in the United States. Every Monday night during the season, host Allen Bestwick and Cup drivers Johnny Benson, Ken Schrader and Michael Waltrip would review the previous weekend’s race.

Over the years, the show and its panelists became must-watch television for fans of what was then known as the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The interaction between the three drivers was entertaining, informative and funny and there was genuine chemistry that exuded through the television set.

This Week In NASCAR started to decline in later years mostly due to changes on the panel. Steve Byrnes took over hosting duties from Bestwick and other NASCAR personalities including Chad Knaus, Greg Biffle and Jimmie Spencer replaced Benson and Schrader. However, the chemistry the show once had was no longer there. The show was cancelled following the 2009 season and sadly it was probably for the best as it had become a shadow of what it once was.
