No. 2 – Budweiser Shootout (2012)

There are good ways to start your sprint cup season and then there are bad ways to start your Sprint cup season. Unfortunately for Jeff Gordon, he started his 2012 season in the worst possible way, flipping down the backstretch of Daytona International Speedway during The Budweiser Shootout.

The incident occurred when Gordon started to tap Kyle Busch’s bumper, causing Busch to get loose and Gordon to slide up towards the wall and into several other cars on the high side of the track. Gordon was then tagged by his teammate, Jimmie Johnson, which caused Gordon’s car to turn on its side and flip violently down the banking of the track. The car finally came to a rest on its roof and Gordon was escorted away by safety officials.
