Disaster In Daytona
Brutal, cringe worthy and devastating are only three words of the hundreds that can be used to describe Kyle Busch’s accident at Daytona in February.
Not only did the former Xfinity Series champion slide through the grass in a fashion that was reminiscent of when Mark Martin flew through the grass and through a chain link fence at Talladega Superspeedway in 1989, Busch also hit an area of the track that wasn’t protected by impact absorbing, SAFER barrier. Busch had to helped out of his car by safety officials and was later diagnosed at Halifax Medical Center with a Compound fracture in his lower right leg, a small fracture in his left foot and a sprained finger.
The injury forced Busch out of action for two and half months, 11 races in all. Luckily for Busch it was not worse than what it was.
