Finding Victory Lane

It’s no secret that finding victory lane can be a difficult task in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

In fact, some drivers who are fortunate enough to find it once don’t find victory lane again for years, if ever again. Fortunately for Martin Truex Jr, that wasn’t the case, as the former MWR driver was able to capture four top-five’s and 12 top ten’s early on in the season, before finally capturing his first victory in two years at Pocono Raceway.

The win was an emotional one for Truex, whose girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Finally, the win guaranteed Truex Jr.  a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, where he would go on to make the final-four at Miami. Truex ultimately finished third in points, but definitely had a season to remember.
