While the start of the season has been rough for young drivers like Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, things changed in Phoenix.

Ty Dillon, who was filling in for Tony Stewart, finished in 15th, the highest position for the No. 14 car all season long. Kyle Larson, who had struggled mightily the past couple of weeks, managed to avoid any trouble, finishing in 12th place.

Three young drivers were able to capture top-10 finishes. Ryan Blaney finished in 10th, his second top-10 in a row. Austin Dillon took his No. 3 car to 9th place, completing his fourth finish at 11th or above this season.

Finally, Chase Elliott finished in 8th place. As the new driver of the No. 24 car, Elliott looked calm, cool and collected all day long, racing in the top-10 for the majority of the afternoon. He made his way up to 4th at one point but was sent back due to a pit stop. It was just the second race of the season where he had not been involved in an accident.

The young guns shined today at a tricky track to operate on. Expect to see more of them as the season goes along.
