Jimmie Johnson is no stranger to success and Auto Club is another track that he has at least five wins at. He has been great at Fontana’s speedway from the beginning, winning his first Sprint Cup Series race there back in April of 2002.

His next four wins at the track came from 2007 to 2010, with his 2008 win being his most dominant. On that day, Johnson started from the pole and led 228 out of 250 laps en route to his third overall victory there. Another impressive accomplishment is his average finish of 6.8, one of the highest you’ll see from any driver at any track.

Johnson has been stellar again this season, with a win already under his belt. Though he’s had to go to a backup car twice this year, that hasn’t stopped him from getting up to third in the point standings.

Between Johnson’s incredible racing both this season and at Auto Club overall, there’s no question that he will be the favorite heading into this weekend’s events.
