Busch Series Snow Day

What happens when you mix snow with NASCAR drivers? Insanity can ensue, and the 2006 Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway brought plenty of it during what may have been the first-ever snow delay.

There are some great candid interviews contained in this clip, including some fun with Michael Waltrip and the late Steve Byrnes, plus a snowman on pit road. But more importantly, it makes you wonder what would happen if NASCAR we to try to race in the snow.

We’ve certainly seen racing in the rain before, more prevalent in NASCAR’s growing second series. But will we ever see the drivers slap the snow tires and chains onto their speed machines? Could you imagine driving through the scenic views of Elkhart Lake at Road America with inches of the white fluffy stuff on the road? Well, as long as Carl Edwards has his squeegee, the drivers of the Xfinity Series should be all set
