Contender No. 2: Carl Edwards

Stats at Bristol:

  • Wins: 3
  • Top-5’s: 5
  • Top-10’s: 10
  • Laps Led: 702

Carl Edwards is another important piece to the winning equation that Joe Gibbs has formed in the current world of NASCAR. Making the switch from Roush Fenway Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing has sort of revived his career and brought him back into contention for a championship.

Bristol has been a place that Edwards has been iffy at throughout his career. He’s put up solid streaks followed by awful streaks but has still managed to lock up three wins at the track, with his most recent one coming in the spring of 2014.

After a great 2015 season, Edwards has opened 2016 with more to be proud of. He’s constantly challenging for the lead and staying at the front of the pack. He’s already raced for a win this season, after being edged out by Kevin Harvick at Phoenix, and might have won last week at Texas had it not been for a loose wheel.

Carl Edwards is sure to be in contention again this weekend as he has had luck qualifying in good positions. Look for him to be racing for a win on Sunday.
