Loser: A Three-Peat

Kyle Busch came into the weekend with two-straight Cup Series wins, one at Martinsville and one at Texas. However, he missed the chance to finish off a three-peat after a rough day at Bristol.

On Lap 50, Busch melted a bead, which caused him to scrape against the wall for minor damage. Later on, Busch went for a spin after he was tagged by Chris Buescher. He eventually got back on the lead lap and up into the top-10 before he was hit with a speeding penalty.

When he had finally worked his way back up into the competition for the second time, Busch had yet another tire issue, causing him to hit the wall with more force on Lap 258 and ultimately ending his day.

The 38th-place finish was Busch’s worst finish of the season so far and just his second finish outside of fourth place this year. After the race, Busch had some thoughts on Bristol (via ESPN.com):

"“This track has sucked for me ever since the grinding. I’m about sick and tired of coming here since it sucks to race.”"

Next weekend at Richmond, Busch will look to get back on track as the Cup Series will be at another short track.
