NASCAR: Winners And Losers From Bristol
By Cole Mentzel
Loser: Matt Kenseth
Matt Kenseth just can’t catch a break this season. After an incredible 2015 campaign, where he won five races, Kenseth has come into 2016 leading laps but failing to put together complete races. In fact, Kenseth has led at least ten laps in every race this season except the trip to Phoenix.
Bristol provided Kenseth with another great chance to turn things around. He got out front rather early on in the race and ended up leading the second-most laps all day long (142). However, on Lap 187, Kenseth’s bad luck came back as he smashed into the wall. Later on in the race, he blew another right front tire, sending him to the back of the pack for good.
It seems like that has been the story for Kenseth this year. He is good enough to win races, but something comes up that either sets him back or takes him out of contention completely. He is in good hands though, as he is a member of Joe Gibbs Racing, arguably the best team in NASCAR right now.
Fortunately for Kenseth, he has the whole summer to work on clinching a spot in the Chase.
