Contender No. 3: Kevin Harvick

Stats at Kansas:

  • Wins: 1
  • Top-5’s: 4
  • Top-10’s: 9
  • Laps Led: 475

Kevin Harvick, like Jimmie Johnson, tends to always stay competitive at 1.5-mile tracks. His career at Kansas has not been as glorious as his career at other venues, but recently, he’s had some strong outings.

It started for Harvick back in the fall race of 2013, as he won the pole and captured his lone victory at Kansas after leading 138 laps. Since then, he has continued to impress, winning two more poles, finishing in second place twice and leading laps in every race. Before this run, he had finished in the top-5 just one other time (2010, 3rd).

Harvick has had another spectacular start as he has led a lap in every race except for the Daytona 500. He seems to be in the mix every weekend as the race dies down. As the current leader in the driver standings, it’s simply been routine for the 2014 champion.

Expect Kevin Harvick to be a threat at a track he’s run well at in recent years.
