As the IndyCar Series returns to Indianapolis to kick off the month of May, we look at some of the great moments created on the IMS road course.

The month of May is the biggest month of the year for the Verizon IndyCar Series, and its host track – the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Since 2014, the spectacle that leads up to the Indianapolis 500 has been kicked off with a road course race for the top open wheel racers in the USA, around the same course at IMS where many other historic races have been seen.

Many major racing series from around the globe have flocked to Indianapolis to take a slice of the hungry motorsports audience of America. Formula One hosted the United States Grand Prix annually at the track’s road course from 1998 to 2007, while MotoGP ran the course from 2008 to 2015. IMSA and its predecessor Grand-Am ran races on the circuit too, in conjunction with NASCAR’s weekend at the Brickyard.

Heading into the third running of the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis, there are lots of great memories to share of races young and old from the lefts and rights on the circuit. Here are just some of the many Indianapolis Road Course web gems.
