Stats at Pocono:

  • Wins: 1
  • Top-5’s: 4
  • Top-10’s: 12
  • Laps Led: 60

In his 17-year career, Matt Kenseth has only won at Pocono one time–the 2015 August race. Speeding around the Tricky Triangle, he was able to make late passes of both Joey Logano and Kyle Busch, who had both run out of fuel.

Up until that moment, Kenseth had suffered through a pretty brutal stretch of years at the track. He finished in sixth in the first Pocono race of 2015, but in the five races prior to that one, he had finished no better than 22nd. In his 32 starts at Pocono, Kenseth’s highest total for laps led in a race is 11.

This season, Kenseth struggled through the first ten races. With a weekly mistake or wreck he was lacking the consistency to get the job done, despite leading laps in nearly every race.

Now, in the last three races, he has finished 4th at Kansas, 1st at Dover and 7th at Charlotte. There’s no doubt his season is starting to turn around and he could become another threat to win this weekend.
