Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin (2007)

Don’t you wish all races could end like this?

Not only did the final lap result in a 20-car pileup that brought fans to their feet in utter shock, it also featured one of the greatest Daytona 500 finishes of all time! Mark Martin was trying desperately to hold onto the lead in the final lap of the race of Kevin Harvick found the perfect moment to get out of line and get a major run on Martin on the outside lane, this resulting in a duel to the finish line.

Unfortunately for both drivers, Kyle Busch got loose after contact with Matt Kenseth and spun in front of the entire pack. While Harvick and Martin had an epic race to the start finish line, Kyle Busch Matt Kenseth and several other drivers spun out and wrecked the entire front of the field. The worst of it happened to Clint Bowyer, who ended up crossing the finish line on his hood and on fire.

Cars continued to collide after crossing the start finish line, which left most of the front stretch of the track in a mixture of smoke and a junkyard full of race cars. Luckily, everyone was able to walk away from the incident unharmed, including Bowyer, who had to escape from his racecar while it was literally on fire, but the incident was still a reminder of just how crash the last lap can get.
