No.2 Denny Hamlin barely holds off a hard-charging Jeff Gordon (2007).

In 2007, in a race that saw nobody clearly dominating Denny Hamlin’s crew chief Mike Ford made a gamble on the final pit stop of the race. He gave his driver the lead by taking just two tires while everybody else had taken four. Hamlin could keep the lead with no problems for much of the following run but when the race was almost over Jeff Gordon started creeping into the picture. He chased down the leader and in the last couple of laps he tried all he could to completely reduce the small margin that Hamlin had on him to try to get the lead.

In the final corner of the final lap Gordon made a move on the inside to get alongside of the leader but it wasn’t enough. Hamlin crossed the finish line in first place with less than a tenth of advantage over Gordon, ending a 32-race winless streak.
