NASCAR’s first race of the Round of 12 is over, and Jimmie Johnson is the first driver moving onto the Round of 8. Before we move onto Kansas next weekend, here are 5 Lessons Learned From Charlotte.

The race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend was supposed to be a night race on Saturday. Thanks to Hurricane Mathew though, the race was rescheduled to Sunday and drivers competed for a spot in the next round of the Chase during the day.

Racing during the day instead of at night like originally planned completely changed what the first race of the Round of 12 could have been.

Instead of cool temperatures and a track where rubber would have been built up on the surface, drivers were competing during warmer temperatures and were on a surface that had been cleaned off because of all the rain in the area.

The Bank of America 500 turned out to be an interesting race even though it was run during the day as several Chase teams ran into trouble and will need to push themselves even harder during the next two races.

Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin are just some of the drivers who did not have the finish they would have wanted and will need to race even harder for a win over these next two weeks.

Unlike the three drivers mentioned before, Jimmie Johnson managed to win his first race of this Chase season on Sunday.

After running into issues during the Round of 16, is it time to assume Johnson and the 48 team are back on top and ready to win a championship?

Charlotte put even more pressure on the Chase drivers and heading into Kansas things will get even tighter as drivers compete for one of the seven remaining spots.

Before NASCAR heads to Kansas Speedway though, here are five lessons learned from The Bank of America 500.
