A wild race for the ARCA Racing Series on Friday afternoon led Xfinity Series regular Brandon Jones to victory lane in the Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan.

The ARCA Racing Series follows the NASCAR action from the tricky triangle at Pocono Raceway to the high banks of Michigan International Raceway this weekend, with the Corrigan Oil 200 on Friday afternoon. The race saw lots of action and crazy incidents that helped land Xfinity Series driver Brandon Jones in Victory Lane.

Jones, who started on the pole for the event and will race in the Michigan 250 on Saturday, led early before spinning out in a trail of oil from Sheldon Creed. This sent him to the rear of the field, forcing the young driver to fight back and pass many contenders to get back to the front. He had a bit of help, however, after a big incident in turn 4 took out contenders including Vinnie Miller, Kyle Benjamin, and last week’s winner Riley Herbst.

What ultimately separated Brandon Jones from the field was a slap of the wall for then-leader Kyle Weatherman, who would go on to finish outside of the top ten. Jones would take the win by close to twenty seconds ahead of the rest of the pack, which just nine cars finishing on the lead lap.

This is the second consecutive win for Brandon Jones at MIS, after winning in the Irish Hills in 2016. It is also the third win of the season for MDM Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series. Austin Theriault came home second on the day for Ken Schrader Racing, continuing to hold onto the points lead. Dalton Sargeant, Bret Holmes, and Gus Dean rounded out the top five.
