In the ARCA throwback race of 2017 at Salem Speedway, Austin Theriault dominated like many former series champions, winning the 200-lap classic.

The big boys of NASCAR were not the only ones to get in on the throwback racing action in 2017. The ARCA Racing Series had their own little throwback race at Salem Speedway in the 102nd running of the Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic.

In true historic fashion, Austin Theriault continued the long streak of success for championship leaders, winning the 200-lap event at Salem.

Theriault, who is leading the championship heading into the final string of fall races, passed young Zane Smith for the win with just a handful of laps to go.

More from ARCA

The driver of the #28 Toyota snuck past Theriault late after the #52 Ford led the race for 140 of the 200 laps, but Smith would ultimately settle for 2nd place on the night.

Coming home in 3rd behind Theriault and Smith was Dalton Sargeant for Cunningham Motorsports. Josh Williams and Gus Dean rounded out the top 5. It was the return of Williams to the series for the first time in 2017, driving a car for his family-run organization. These were also the only cars to finish on the lead lap.
