Should the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series consider moving its top series of racing to Saturday’s to avoid conflicts with other sporting events?

On Sunday, NASCAR hosted the first race of the Round of 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Even with such a big race taking place, there were still several seats that remained empty. This begs the question of whether NASCAR could benefit from hosting its top series on Saturday’s rather than Sunday’s.

All things considered, another week of NASCAR racing has gone by and yet again another track showed more bleachers on the television coverage then we as fans like to see. It is not as though Sunday’s at Charlotte was your typical mid-season race with nothing on the line. This was a second round playoff race, crucial for drivers looking to win the championship. Of course, the weather was not ideal and showed every sign of rain, but this was a playoff race.

Above all, NASCAR is seeing sponsors leave the sport at an alarming rate. Another thing to consider is how many fans are either not watching the broadcast or buying tickets to attend. There has to be a way to get more sponsors to stay with NASCAR and get people in the seats. One option for top officials to consider is moving the Cup series racing to Saturday. Some races are already on Saturday’s and if more followed, it could benefit the sport.
